The Tesla Megapack energy storage system will power France’s largest battery storage project. This huge project is being built in Cheviré, located in the port of Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, France. Here are the details of the giant project…

British-based energy storage company Harmony Energy announced this week that the Megapack project with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh has been officially launched. This project will use Tesla’s 2-hour Megapack batteries and will be able to provide electricity to more than 170 thousand households for two hours.

The construction of the project is planned to be completed next summer and the system will operate at full capacity by the end of 2025. The location of the Cheviré project hosted a power plant working with coal, gas and oil between 1954 and 1986.

This project once again reveals how effective Tesla’s energy storage solutions are. Tesla’s real-time trading platform Autobidder will also be used in this project and will help operators maximize their revenues.

Tesla has many Megapack projects around the world. For example, there is another Megapack project with a capacity of 200 MW/800 MWh, located in California and built on the site of a former steam power plant. Additionally, Tesla recently signed a massive 15.3 GWh contract with Intersect Power, expanding its existing 2.4 GWh collaboration.

Tesla produces Megapacks in its super factory called “Megafactory” in Lathrop, California, and is building a super factory in Shanghai. Each of these factories will be able to produce approximately 10 thousand Megapacks per year when they reach full capacity.
